Frequently Asked Questions

What if I forgot my password?

You can reset your password through the settings menu on the home screen.

What does "share my data" mean?

Size Stream’s company motto is providing body data for goods and services. This can take a lot of different forms! Size Stream starts with a geometric representation of your body shape (your 3D avatar), and can automatically extract over 200 measurements. When you share your data, each share agreement lists the exact information you are sharing. This may include body geometry, a list of measurements and your name, age and selected gender.

I don't have an internet connection.  Can I still scan?

Our mobile app requires an internet connection in order to process and return your scan results.

How much space do I need to scan?

We recommend a clear wall area 6 feet wide, but your phone will determine how far it must be to capture your height. You will also need a knee-to-waist high stand for your phone or something to rest it against; such as a chair, computer screen, or even a water bottle! Example:

How can I share my measurements with brands and retailers I like?

MeThreeSixty provides a share mechanism, to allow you to share with brands and retailers you like. If your brand or retailer is not available to share with, please ask them to partner with Size Stream to make your personal measurements available!

How accurate is the body-fat percentage measurement?  What is a healthy range for body-fat percentage?

Body fat percentage can be measured in many ways. Check out our published paper comparing Size Stream’s body fat formula against industry standard measurements. Because everyone is different and unique, please consult with a doctor when determining what a healthy range of body fat would be for yourself.

Do I need to tie up my hair?

Yes, you should wear your hair up and off the back of your neck. If you have a pony tail, please put it in a bun to avoid the tail hanging down and obscuring your neck or back.

Do I need a clean room? (Many variants of this: Can other people be in the pictures, can the TV/fan/other moving object be on, etc...)

Avoid distractions and trip hazards in the room. Make sure furniture and other objects are removed and not seen on the screen of the phone.

Can I wear my glasses?

Yes, you can wear your glasses if that is comfortable for you. Try to avoid bright reflections off your glasses, or any shiny surface, during scanning.

Do I need to wear special clothing to scan?

For best results we recommend that you scan wearing solid-colored, skin-tight clothing with any wrinkles smoothed out so there is no gap between skin and clothing. An example of of acceptable clothing would be compression tops and bottoms.

Can I scan using my tablet?

Our mobile app requires a supported phone. We do not support tablets because of camera quality. Some recent tablet models have higher quality cameras and we are investigating support for these models.

Can I get my measurements, geometric data, etc..?

Currently, you can see your own measurements and 3D body using the app when you sign in with your 3DiD account. No one else may access your geometric or measurement data without your explicit sharing permission.

Can I get a 3D print of my scan?

If a company chooses to partner with Size Stream and offer 3D body prints as a service then you would have the opportunity to share your data with them and get a 3D print of your body! In the mean time, please reach out to with any requests to download your body data.

What phone models do you support?

For iPhones: iPhone 7 and later is supported. Note that earlier iPhone versions may not work. For Android: Most command Android phones are supported. Lower end devices may have a degraded experience. For example the Moto G4 is known to not work.

I have a beard, can I scan?

Yes, if your neck can be seen clearly in photos then you can scan without doing anything special. Otherwise you need to pin up your beard so that your neck can be seen. Besides, no one wants an unruly beard, right?

I am pregnant, can I scan?

Congratulations! Yes, you can still scan. Although your measurements may not be as accurate.

Why doesn't my avatar look like me?

Scanning captures only your body shape and not your face or hairstyle.

What happens to my pictures?

Your pictures are uploaded and automatically processed into your avatar. When processing is complete the pictures are deleted.

Why don’t my measurements match when I use a tape measure?

There could be a few reasons for this. Often, however, where you position the tape measure, how tight you hold it and what posture your in while you measure can change your body shape.

Do I still need a scan buddy?

You will no longer need a scan buddy to use MeThreeSixty.

What resolution should my phone camera be?

The front-facing camera needs to be able to take 1080p photos.

My screen is black and I can't take a scan

Description: Blank silhouette on a black screen, accompanied by two red horizontal bars.
Usually this happens with users trying to scan with an iPad that doesn't have a 1080p front-facing camera. This will remedy if you try scanning on a mobile device that can capture in at least 1080p. Please reach-out to if you are still experiencing difficulty.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

Direct sunlight reflecting onto your body can make it hard to complete a scan.

If the Sun is casting strong light onto your body some things you can try to do are:

  • Cover windows
  • Move to a location that does not have direct sunlight on the body
  • Wait until a different time of day when direct sunlight is not a problem

Clutter in the background can make it hard to complete a scan.

Furniture, clothing, mirrors, windows and pictures in the background can make it difficult to detect your scan pose. For best results we recommend that you clear the wall and ground in your scanning area.

Baggy or loose clothing cause measurements to be too large.

T-shirts and tank tops can have loose sleeves or blousing along the back. It is ideal for men to go topless and for women to wear a torso-baring sports bra. The ideal bottoms to wear while scanning are solid colored bicycle shorts. Be sure to smooth out any wrinkles.
